Eggs, Eggs and More Eggs

Of course it wouldn't be Easter if we didn't color eggs. Briana found on Food Network that Alton Brown says to bake your eggs, so thats how we did it this year and they turned out fine. I don't eat them anyway but Briana and Emilee love them.

Beautiful eggs!
We decided to go to the city wide egg hunt. The kids had fun but the eggs were wiped out in seconds. Isabelle wouldn't pick up a couple because there were flys flying around (she is very afraid of bugs this year). I have to say it was a pretty neat egg hunt, if you found a number in your egg you won a prize. They had so many prizes which was neat because several kids won not just one from each age group. Isabelle won two prizes and Andrew won one.

Andrews age group didn't seem to have many eggs, I don't know if that was an oversight. But Ted said they were gone before you could blinked.
Belle's group had a lot of eggs but it was 3 - 5 yr. olds and there were tons of kids. She just isn't agressive enough to get a lot of eggs. Oh, and the bugs didn't help either, haha.
With their prizes! They both won educational games, which was nice.

Resurrection Rolls

We made resurrection rolls this morning to help explain the death, burial and resurrection of Christ to the kids. Isabelle is rolling the marshmellows in butter to represent the oils used for embalming, then Andrew rolled them in cinnamon sugar to represent the spices used. Emilee then sealed them in crescent rolls to represent the cloths used to wrap Jesus' body in, then we put them in the oven (tomb) to bake.

When we rolled the stone away & took them out, they were empty on the inside to show that Christ had risen.

Cool visual and they were good too!
Happy Easter!

Goldie

Who is Goldie you ask? He came to live with us last fall, when Emilee tossed a ping pong ball into a cup of water at the Fairview Fall Festival. The grand prize was a gold fish, which she won for Andrew. I really thought it would last a few days, but here we are a year later and he is still swimming around. So, we were at Wal-Mart one day and Andrew declared it was Goldies birthday, so I went along with it, why not? He picked out something new for Goldies bowl and we had a party that evening. Hey any excuss to have ice cream works for me!

Christmas fun

Every year we enjoy the Staley kid's party. The little ones can have their face painted, get ballon animals from a clown and visit with santa and receive a gift. The older ones enjoy some games of BINGO with a chance to win DVD's, Mason and Emilee both won this year. When they played the final game of blackout for a chance at a Walmart $150.00 gift card, Emilee had only 2 spaces left when someone else won. Everyone also brings a toy that is donated to local families.

This year we joined in the homeschool gingerbread house party. Every family gets their own gingerbread house kit and everyone brings something to share for the decorating. I learned my kids are not very good about working together. But all in all we had a fun time.

Andrew had more fun playing with his friend Kyle, but he also had some ideas of his own for decorating. Like the flat round cookie in the picture below, he said was the trampoline in the back yard.

Our finished Gingerbread house!

Christmas wouldn't be complete without us making sugar cookies. I just went with simple this year, white icing and sprinkles. They still tasted good!
